]]> In implementing a program aimed at increasing women’s participation in leadership positions, tenure, accountability and co-operation between stewardships and their leaders, Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA) conducted a one-day training session for women Members of Parliament aimed at further strengthening their capacity to fulfill their responsibilities in the communities they lead.

The one-day training was held at the Morena Hotel, Dodoma.

]]> In ensuring that the sub-project results were well articulated and documented, Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA) in collaboration with Tanzania Non-Communicable Disease Alliance (TANCDA) and the Ministry of Health held a joint reflection meeting with other members of the RECAP Country team.

This meeting gave us an opportunity to outline changes brought by the sub-project, discuss to what extent the sub-project has contributed to those changes as well as recording lesson learned under the RECAP Program.

]]> Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA) together with other stakeholders advocating for the review of the Road Traffic Act, 1973 who form part of the Road Safety Coalition in Tanzania held a meeting with government officials and the media.

The Road Safety Coalition called on policy makers, law makers and government officials to see the necessity of working on the amendment for the Road Traffic Act in order to address the issue of road safety and reduce the number of people dying as a result of road crashes.

]]> In implementation of the project titled “Enhancing Gender Equity in to We-Effect partners organization through technical support provision” , TAWLA coordinated a 3 days stakeholders meeting to plan and prepare the national forum for women land rights.

The meeting was attended by government officials (officers from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development, Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MOHCDGEC)) who plan to hold the forum on the commemoration of the national village women day in Kilimanjaro.
