Tanzania Women’s Lawyers Association (TAWLA) in Mwanza region has continued to cooperate with the civil society organizations we work with in a project aimed at Increased Democratic and Inclusive Election (IDIEP) to coordinate community dialogues and conversations in Sukuma Kabira Mantare and Sumve wards.

These meetings have aimed to encourage participation and responsibility between leaders and citizens in bringing about the development of their areas.

TAWLA Provides Civil Education in Magu, Kwimba and Monduli Districts

Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA) together with civil organizations that implement a project aimed at Increased Democratic and Inclusive Election in Tanzania (IDIEP) have continued to provide civil education and the mobilization of all groups of the society in development activities.

This public education has been provided in the districts of Magu and Kwimba in Mantare, Kahangara, Sukuma and Kitongosima wards as well as Meserani ward in Monduli district.

TAWLA Meeting with Stakeholders in Morogoro

Tanzania Women’s Lawyers Association (TAWLA) collaborating with the Tanzania End Child Marriage Network (TECMN) and other stakeholders who are engaged in the protection of children’s rights in Tanzania, have met to discuss the entire process of the issue of child marriage and the process of collecting opinions of citizens on changes to the Marriage Act.

One of the things that has been discussed in detail is the issue of the age of marriage in Tanzania and how it affects the child.

Participation of TAWLA in Community Events in Tanga region.

In the efforts to raise legal awareness to community members, the Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA) uses different fora to raise community awareness.

Earlier this week, Ms. Mwanaidi Kombo, TAWLA’s regional coordinator in Tanga participated in a special mass session organized by female members of the Muslim Council of Tanzania(BAKWATA) in Tanga region where she reminded women of their duties to their families, in raising their children in a well mannered and responsible way as a way to contribute in the reduction of acts of violence in the family and community at large.

TAWLA Engagement with the Tanga Community

In order to ensure effective participation of the community in fighting Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA) has been using different fora in raising community awareness on issues relating to GBV.

Earlier this week, TAWLA had the opportunity to participate in the training for women entrepreneurs as part of the launch of the fifth season of Tanga Women Gala. During this event, TAWLA was represented by Ms. Mwanaidi Kombo, TAWLA regional coordinator in Tanga who had an opportunity to participate and capacitate participants on GBV related issues. In addition to this, Ms. Mwanaidi urged the participants to provide their children with necessary information on the indicators of GBV for their security and protection.

The Regional Police Commander (RPC) of Tanga Safia Jongo, was the guest of honor in that event.

TAWLA Trains Women and Young People in Rombo District

The participation of women and young people in leadership positions and decision-making bodies increases the effectiveness in the implementation of the responsibilities of leaders and brings positive development in society.

And for this reason, #MwanamkeImara through the Tanzania Women’s Lawyers Association (TAWLA) had the opportunity to participate in the general meeting in Mrere village, Rombo District, in Kilimanjaro region with the aim of passing by-laws of the village with a gender target and encouraging participation of young people and women in leadership positions.

This exercise is done with the help of the American people.
